A year ago, I started this blog for social leaders. Those are the people who sacrifice to make the world a better place. Today, I realized something. In this pandemic, we are all social leaders. That’s amazing!
In a few short weeks, we have radically changed our lives to protect others. We are staying home to help our health care workers and prevent those more vulnerable from getting seriously ill. We are billions of people, acting as one.
Although I’m apprehensive about the future, I am also incredibly hopeful. If we are able to effect change so quickly in the face of this emergency, what else can we do together? What could this mean for climate change? What about poverty? Education? Mental health? Gender equality? Corruption? We can emerge from this crisis as a stronger community. This is an interesting moment to explore new possibilities and new opportunities. Some doors will close, yet we can build others. The best ideas come in the darkness, in times of strife. Will we seize the moment?
Now, more than ever, I believe in “Yes, we can”. That’s not a political slogan, that’s a testament to the human condition.
Stay strong, stay hopeful, stay home. Yes, we can.
